We've had a little break from the LOVE FOOD Newsletter but we're back on track now!

There has been so much happening over the past 6 months - I've moved back to Ireland, I've just finshed filming my second series of Fresh From the Sea which will air in June and I've written a new book entitled 'Homemade by Clodagh' which is set to be released in October.

I'm also delighted to announce that I'm starting my own cookery school (see below for more details) along with cafe and general store at the beautiful Village at Lyons in Cellbridge, Co. Kildare. Not only will this development be a haven for foodies everywhere, it will also be a fabulous place for families and friends to gather. We'll have farmers markets every Friday, there are lovely organic gardens to see, and gorgeous walks to enjoy. Picnic baskets will be available at the cafe - so you can enjoy the Irish summer along the banks of the canal.

We're launching the new school, cafe and store on Saturday, 19th of June. Check out www.villageatlyonscookeryschool.com for more info.

Be sure to watch my new series of Fresh From the Sea. It airs on RTE 1 at 8:00pm every Tuesday commencing the 15th of June! It was so exciting making this series. We travelled the coast of Ireland and did everything from trawling for Dublin Bay Prawns, cooking in some of my favourite restaurants such as Cavistons in Glasthule and Deasys in Ring. Also had exciting adventures like kayaking through the sea caves in Dingle while Fungi the dolphin swamg along beside us!

The General Store is an Aladdins cave of all things delicious and useful. From smoked Gubbeen bacon rashers to Donegal tweed rugs to vegetable peelers. The store will offer customers ingredients for cooking a last minute super or baking that special cake; buying a present for a special occasion; or picking up a newspaper and fresh orange juice on a Sunday morning. The concept of the store is a revitalised one stop corner shop where you can find all that you need for all your wants, and if you don’t we can get it for you!

The Canal Cafe by Clodagh - Opening 5th June

With it’s deep burgundy buttoned chesterfield style seating and wooden panelled walls the café offers a relaxed atmosphere where guests can sit back and enjoy a range of local Irish produce, home-grown fruit and vegetables, taken straight from the Village at Lyons Cookery School garden, and freshly baked bread.

Inspired by Clodagh’s favourite cafes ‘Cafe de Flore’ in Paris, and ‘Baltazar’ in NYC. Open from Tuesday to Sunday offering a delicious range of homemade breads, treats and snacks, which will include everything from brunch to afternoon tea and aperitifs to picnic boxes, all designed and created by Clodagh. The breakfast and brunch menu consists of a number of mouth watering dishes including brioche French toast with smoked streaky Gubbeen bacon and maple syrup and baked eggs with spicy sausage or smoked bacon lardoons. The all day menu has something for everyone from organic chicken liver pate with caramelized onions to The Canal Cafe pizza and risotto, which will change seasonally.

FRESH FROM THE SEA

From quick-to-prepare family meals like fish pie and tuna carbonara to mouth-watering dishes like crab salad and black olive sole. Over 100 seafood recipes are accompanied by side dishes and desserts to round off the perfect meal. And true to my philosophy, I also celebrate Ireland's outstanding food producers and the people who work hard to bring seafood to our tables: the fishermen, the restaurateurs, the fish farmers and the processors.

With stunning photography by Alberto Peroli throughout, this book will delight anyone who enjoys catching, cooking or eating fish, and especially those who are interested in what goes on around Ireland's coast.

THE IRISH FARMERS' MARKET

Both a cookbook and a culinary tour of Ireland, celebrating the diversity and quality of local food and showing how the experience of shopping at farmers' markets can transform your everyday cooking. This cookbook contains over 100 recipes range from new takes on traditional Irish favourites to dishes with more Mediterranean flavours, always emphasising seasonality, local produce and fresh ingredients - the return to slow food.

Includes a guide to the best farmers' markets in each region of Ireland, with profiles of some of the farmers and producers bringing their food sensations to market. As well as using ingredients available at the market, recipes also recreate some of the breads, cakes, chutneys available, like Gallic Kitchen's organic steak pies and Giana Ferguson's baked cheese with winter herbs - so even if you can't visit the markets you can still enjoy a taste of Ireland. Recipes for everyday cooking - Fried mackerel, Cork Beef Stew - as well as more unusual offerings that reflect the wider range of produce available at farmers' markets, such as Roast Pheasant with Apple and Sweet Geranium Stew.

AVAILABLE OCTOBER 2010

My starting point for this book was the House Keeper's Guide my mum was given when she first set up home. I wanted to update the idea of this household manual for the way we live now. Not just for new brides but for single dads, independent women, couples and everyone in between. Ideas about how to entertain, how to cook for yourself, your friends and family, how to organise and decorate your home.

The book is packed with handy household tips and advice on everything from table settings to how to select the perfect cheese board. My aim is that this book can become the kitchen companion to you the way my mum's house Keeping Manual was to her. A faithful friend you can turn to when you need good solid advice on stocking up the larder and storage, inspiration for dinner party menus, something nutritious for the lunchbox, a recipe for jam or the perfect menu for afternoon tea.
