My History & Background

For nearly 10 years, I have been involved in food.  After training as a chef in Ballymaloe, I became a farmers market organiser, food producer (pates and terrines), radio broadcaster, and now I am a predominately a food writer and broadcaster on TV!

I grew up in Cork, Ireland, but spent summers in France from an early age where I learned lots about French food.  After school, I went on to Univerisity in the USA and returned home with the knowledge that I definitely wanted to start my own business. Like so many people, I just didn’t know what I wanted to do! But with lots of encouragement from my parents (and a co signature for a loan!) I went and did the Ballymaloe Cookery Course. Here the love affair began and since then I have been doing my best to get people around the country as hooked as I am!

Just over a year ago, I moved to Turin, Northern Italy. I have always had a love for Italian food and dreamed of one day living here. Last year,  I decided that I wasn’t going to have an regrets in my life so I packed my bags and headed to Italy in the hope of learning as much as I could about food. I visit a different food or wine producer every 2 weeks and go to as many festivals as I can. Currently, I am working on a new book which will be packed full of my stories, travels and recipes that I have learned. I also write about these producers in my articles so be sure to click on the ‘publications’ button to find out about my featured columns.
