Foraging For Mushrooms

Last weekend when we were clearing out the pathway through the woods here at home in Broadspear we discovered thousands of wild mushrooms! I was so excited about this new discovery and dashed back to the house to get my wicker basket and knife to go on a forage. I picked about seven different varieties of mushrooms - field, ceps, porcini, puffballs, chanterelles, horse, and blushing wood. You will need to go foraging with someone experienced in wild mushrooms because the inedible varieties are deadly and you just can’t take the risk. I would definitely suggest going on a course if this is of interest to you. In the UK Fire and Wild based in Sussex offer fantastic courses click here to find out more.
