Forest Tablescape

Forest Tablescape

Watch Clodagh make this on ITV This Morning here.

The colours in the parks, forests and woods are so magical at this time of year. I put together this table in minutes, by simply cutting large sprigs from the trees, picking pine cones and acorns. You can re-create this in your garden, dining room, kitchen table, in a wood – anywhere!

STEPS:

  1. I like to use a wooden table, but if you don’t have a wooden table, lay your table with an autumnal coloured linen – think mustards, browns, dark greens and deep reds, think about the colours of the autumn leaves.

  2. Run branches down the centre of the table, you can use large or smaller branches bundled together.

  3. In the centre of the table place a small tree stump, or basket turned upside down to create height. Place a dining candle in a tall candlestick and pop some branches into glass jars (I’ve used ferns) and put them on top of the tree stump/basket.

  4. For the place setting, lay down a natural looking placemat and put a white plate on top. Add a napkin and lay branches and seasonal berries over the linen. Then place a pinecone with a name tag attached on top (I like to draw a little leaf on the name tags).

  5. Scatter pinecones , acorns and mushrooms (thing’s you’ve found in the woods) around the table.

  6. Attach large branches that have lots of leaves to the back of the chairs with string.
