Sustainable Christmas Tablescape

Watch Clodagh make this on ITV This Morning here.

STEPS:

  1. Collect different winter sprigs and foliage that are in season.

  2. Gather them into a couple of pots and wrap wire around them to keep in place. Place them along the center of your table. Add cake stands or little boxes in between the pots and place large pine cones, dried mushrooms and dining candles SHOP HERE in candlesticks on top to create height.

  3. Add battery powered fairy lights to the centerpiece hiding the cable in between the foliage. I find the best lights for a table are the ones that come on a very thin wire and have a soft white light.

  4. To create the place settings, use white rustic dinner plates SHOP HERE , then on top of the plate, tie a bow around a white napkin using velvet ribbon in winter green, mustard and burgundy and then tuck a spring of fir into the bow.

    - Another gorgeous place setting idea is to create a cranberry wreath. To do this, take some florist wire and with fresh cranberries slide them onto the wire and then twist both ends of the wire to close the circle. Pop the wreath onto the napkin and secure it when tying the bow with the ribbon.

    - Another Idea would be to use dried mushrooms, replace the fir springs with a dried mushroom.

  5. For the name tags, spray pine cones with an off white / cream spray paint and using brown craft card write your guests names on and slot them into the pine cone and place on the plate next to the napkin. For the mushroom place settings, wrap wire around a pine cone and add a small dried mushroom to the end of the wire, glue a name tag to the wire.

  6. Attach dried oranges, pinecones, dried mushrooms and mistletoe to wire and hang from the ceiling. I also like to hang a bowed ribbon from the ceiling to add colour and texture.
